Calling all beach lovers! Venice Beach is a must-visit destination in southern California that you simply can’t miss. And guess what? I couldn’t resist the opportunity for Toby to get his paws in the sandy shores for the first time.
Dog-Friendly Breakfast Spot
Our day at Venice Beach started with a delightful breakfast at none other than the famous Eggslut. Despite the lack of outdoor seating, the staff at Eggslut warmly welcomed Toby and me inside the restaurant. I couldn’t resist ordering their mouthwatering egg sandwich and a side of crispy tater tots. Let me tell you, it was absolutely amazing! To make things even better, a friendly couple sitting next to us happily entertained Toby, giving me a chance to enjoy my meal without any usual canine interruptions.
I’ve always wanted to try Eggslut. They have a location in Las Vegas, and whenever I travel there for work, I would try to go but the long lines deterred me every time. I’m glad I finally got a chance to try this place, and I’d highly recommend it for anyone who loves a good breakfast sandwich.
Venice Beach
Now, it was time for the main event. We made our way southwest on Windward Avenue, entering Windward Plaza with its towering palm trees and refreshing ocean breeze. As we strolled towards the Venice Beach Skatepark, Toby’s excitement skyrocketed upon feeling the sand beneath his paws. He zoomed around with pure joy, unsure of what to make of this new sensation!
After a few playful dashes, Toby settled down and we continued our leisurely walk across the sand, towards the ocean. I wanted Toby to experience the Pacific Ocean up close. As he ventured closer to the shoreline, his curiosity piqued. However, when the waves gently rolled in, Toby was taken aback and swiftly retreated. Water has never been his cup of tea, even on a warm day.

We meandered along the shoreline for a while before transitioning back to the Venice Boardwalk. However, the bustling cyclists prompted us to switch to the Ocean Front Walk. Passing by charming shops under the radiant California sun, we couldn’t escape its warm embrace. Well, it is a beach after all!
I’m grateful that Toby had the opportunity to explore the sand and encounter the ocean firsthand. It was a memorable experience for both of us, and a true highlight of our Venice Beach adventure!
Westminster Dog Park
Seeking a chance for Toby run around leash-free, we ventured to the nearby Westminster Dog Park. The vast open space greeted us, accommodating dogs of all sizes. While I typically prefer separate areas for small and larger dogs, the park was not overly crowded so we decided to give it a chance.
The park’s terrain was mostly covered in wood chips, providing a comfortable surface for our furry friends. A few picnic tables offered spots for human companions to relax, while a convenient water fountain kept the pups hydrated. Toby reveled in the freedom of this expansive area, dashing and playing to his heart’s content. It’s a great spot for those seeking a leash-free space in Venice for their furry companions.
Dog-Friendly Coffee Spot
With Toby content after his treat to the dog park, it was my turn to indulge. We retraced our steps to the starting point of our day, but this time we veered towards Menotti’s Coffee Stop. This charming cafe had a dog-friendly outdoor patio area, perfect for enjoying a cup of delicious latte while basking in the beautiful California weather with your furry companion. Menotti’s Coffee Stop provided an ideal spot for us to unwind after a day of adventure in Venice — a definite must-visit for dog owners in the area.
