Join us on Day 4 as we explore the picturesque Falls View Canyon and make our way to Bellevue. A scenic and memorable end to our trip!
Day 4 of our adventure didn’t go as planned due to unexpected road work on Highway 101, which delayed us by about three hours. This setback prevented us from making additional stops, but I’d still highly recommend the spots we had on our original itinerary!
Falls View Canyon
Despite the delay, we managed to visit Falls View Canyon. The hike here is quite long and involves a significant descent and ascent, so it’s not ideal for those seeking a leisurely stroll. The trail is rugged and not very well-paved, adding a sense of adventure to the trek. It was quite an adventure, and we could hear the waterfall, but we could not find our way to the viewpoints unfortunately. We did find our way to the bottom of a creek at some point and were able to cool off. Although we didn’t see the waterfall, we still enjoyed our hike, and Toby absolutely enjoyed exploring the new terrain, taking in the smell and sounds of the natural surroundings.

Planned Stops: Mt. Walker Viewpoint and Rocky Brook Falls
Although we couldn’t visit Mt. Walker Viewpoint and Rocky Brook Falls, they remain highly recommended.
Mt. Walker offers sweeping views of the Puget Sound and the Cascade Mountains. The drive up is supposed to be scenic and enjoyable, and the views from the top should be well worth it. Mt. Walker was named after Joseph Walker, an explorer who led expeditions across the western United States in the early 19th century.
Rocky Brook Falls is a beautiful, peaceful waterfall near the Hood Canal. The falls supposedly are easily accessible via a short, easy trail, making it a perfect stretch spot during a road trip. The falls are located near the Hood Canal, an important site for local Native American tribes for centuries.
If you don’t encounter similar delays, these spots are definitely worth including in your itinerary for Olympic National Park!
